Curated by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco, the tequila for the 2026 Trascender edition is a carefully composed blend of two mature Añejo tequilas.
At the heart of the blend is an Añejo aged for more than 30 months and then finished in select casks previously used to ferment wine destined for Champagne production. It is complemented by a second Añejo aged for over 30 months in American whiskey casks, contributing bold character and toasted notes to the final blend.
The Champagne wine casks are particularly significant. According to Clase Azul, these casks carry the influence of autolysis, a process in which lees continue releasing compounds into the wine after the yeast's life cycle has ended. When used to finish the tequila, the casks contribute warm, buttery aromas reminiscent of toasted walnuts and freshly baked bread.
